The Island
During lockdown, our stunning Elizabeth veil got to travel to sunny Ibiza, thanks to our friends at Hidden Treasures Ibiza.
Ibiza wedding planner, Lauren Kaycee, came up with the amazing idea of doing “7 Shoots of Summer”, showcasing the stunning venues that are perfect, and available, for Mediterranean style weddings. Due to the extension of lockdown, this project soon turned into “12 Shoots”.
The Shoot
Shoot 5 of 7 Shoots of Summer, captured by the supremely talented Stephenie Shenton Photography, was situated on the tiny beach of S’estanyol which is tucked away in the southeast of Ibiza, Cala Bonita. Here at The Wedding Veil Shop, we nicknamed this one the “Love is Love” shoot as it’s a fabulous lesbian wedding inspiration shoot featuring modern gay wedding outfit ideas as well as fabulous LGBTQ destination wedding inspiration gorgeousness.

The Veil
One of the brides is pictured wearing a beautifully plain, floor length wedding dress and exotic flowers in her hair. The ensemble finished perfectly with our magnificent “Elizabeth” veil.
The Elizabeth veil is a two layer, cathedral length veil that is completed with ornate lace detailing. The cathedral length boasts the longest veil length that we supply, without customisation. The tulle is tapered at the top of the veil in order to stay nice and sheer at the blusher. The blusher can be worn over the face if you are a traditional bride or, kept at the back as an extra layer.
The bottom of the veil showcases the extra wide width of luxurious tulle in the colour of your choice. This is decorated with wonderfully peaked applique detailing. In addition to looking absolutely stunning, the lace appliques help to weigh down the veil’s delicate tulle, making it the perfect choice for a destination wedding with a soft, summer breeze.
You can see the breath-taking Elizabeth veil in all its glory as it drapes effortlessly over both of the gorgeous brides.
The Film
Gary, founder of Infin8 Images, captured a truly perfect vision of Ibiza destination weddings during Lauren’s photoshoot. The company’s ethos,

Is flawlessly embodied within his videography.
The essence of the Balearic Island is captured so splendidly that you can almost imagine you are right there, completely part of the two brides’ wedding. Additionally, you can witness our Elizabeth veil in a wedding setting, seeing how it moves and fits in.
Typical questions asked about LGBTQ Destination Weddings
1. Why should we get married abroad?
One of the many benefits of marrying abroad is that you are expected to invite a smaller amount of wedding guests, making the occasion more intimate. You may also choose a destination that is special to you both, adding an extra sentiment. Wedding packages also tend to be cheaper abroad and you can tie in your honeymoon.
2. What makes a Mediterranean wedding special?
First, imagine the incredible backdrop that will be part of your wedding. Next, think about incorporating the delicious local food and wine that will give you wedding that something a little bit different. You can also almost guarantee that you will have amazing weather.
3. Are same sex weddings legal abroad?
Yes! Gay marriage was legalised in October 2017. This came into effect in 25 countries. You can now choose to have your wedding in over 30 countries.
4. Can both brides wear a wedding dress?
Of course! Both brides are definitely able to wear wedding dresses although this isn’t always the case. If a dress isn’t for you, there are plenty of other options. You could try a bridal jumpsuit, traditional suit or whatever you want to!
5. Can both brides wear veils?
Again, yes! The addition of a veil is personal preference for any bride and some brides choose not to wear one at all. If you do choose to wear veils, you may choose completely different or very similar styles. For example, one bride could choose a short veil and one bride could choose a very long veil such as our Elizabeth veil.
6. Should two brides coordinate their wedding dresses?
You certainly could if you wanted to, however, if you’re trying to keep your outfits secret from each other this might prove tricky! If you’ve both agreed on an overall theme for the wedding, however, as well as the location and time of year, you would likely naturally choose dresses that complement each other nicely enough, even if you decide to each go for a different silhouette and finer details.
That said, here are some ways you can coordinate both brides at a lesbian wedding.
- Matching accessory colour, e.g. all silver or all gold
- Matching, or complementing bouquets.
- Matching or coordinating dress colours (you may decide not to wear white or ivory)
7. How do two brides walk down the aisle at a same sex wedding?
There are a few options for this. You could go down the traditional route and have one bride waiting at the alter while the other bride walks down. You could both walk down the aisle together, unified. Alternatively, my favourite, you could arrange your venue seating to make two aisles either side, both walk down them and meet in the middle at the alter.
The most important thing to remember is – It is YOUR wedding so do what YOU want!
