Frequently asked Questions

What are the veils made from?  They are made from a soft form of tulle made specifically for bridal veils often referred to as bridal illusion.

Do you do any other colours apart from the ones on your colour chart?  Yes there are a few other colours that aren't shown because they are not often requested such as pale blue, lilac, silver and metallic silver. A selected number of veils are also available in red/burgundy.

Are all the veils available in all the colours?  No not all, it will state on each veil description which colours that particular veil is available in, if you are ordering your own veil via the custom order form you will have more freedom of choice of the colours available from the charts

When should I expect to receive my veil?  Our standard manufacture time is 28 days although rush orders can also be arranged, you can choose the service you require at checkout. For the Illusions veils and headpieces which are shipped over from the United States, I would recommend leaving yourself at least 3-4 weeks for delivery just in case they take more time than expected to arrive here. Please also be aware that some of their veils are out of stock and on back order, the list of which veils are currently on back order and the date they are expected back in stock can be found here

Can I order samples of the fabric colours? Yes samples are available here Sample request form although some shades we don't have as they come ready made from America

Can I customise any of the veils shown on this site?  Yes, many of the veils have customisable options, for example the embroidered veils can be embroidered in a variety of colours including silver, gold and burgundy. The beaded veils can also be changed for example by substituting pearls for crystals. See the custom order section for more details.

How are the veils shipped? Veils are shipped either by Royal mail Recorded delivery or Royal Mail Special Delivery which are both recorded trackable services in the UK and by Airsure for the rest of the world. They are packed carefully into protective garment covers and lightly folded into the roomy boxes to limit creasing. Although we offer both services we would strongly recommend using Special Delivery as it is a priority service and is guarenteed next day. 1st class recorded items if lost or delayed will not be dealt with by Royal Mail until 15 days have passed and this could just be too late for you!

What is the difference between centre gathered veils and fully gathered veils?  The way in which the veil is gathered at the comb affects the edges of the veil. See these images for clarification http://theweddingveilshop.co.uk/id363.html

Are all your accents made by Swarovski?  No not all but most of them. It will clearly state in the description if they are Swarovski crystals/pearls/diamantes. The pearl edged veil for example is made using strung faux pearls that are not made by Swarovski but are still high quality bridal beads.

Are your beads sewn on or glued on? There is a mixture of both, scattered beading will be glued on, and beaded edges including all the ones in the Illusions section are hand sewn. There are a couple of exceptions such as V-002 which is glued but this is the general rule If it is important to you to know beforehand just e-mail us and we will be glad to tell you all about your chosen style. The reason we glue scattered beading is to avoid puckering the delicate veil fabric. We use clear drying fabric glue which can’t be seen when looking at the veil from the right side.

How do I secure the veil in my hair?  To secure the veil in your hair if your hair is up you will simply need to position the comb downwards in to the hair with the teeth of the comb pointing towards the floor. If your hair is to be worn loose you will need a little extra help keeping the veil in place. Try taking two or three very small sections of hair and making pony tails that the comb can then slide underneath. You will also find that the extra styling products you will be wearing on the day will help your veil feel much more secure.

What is a veil clip? Its a stainless steel clip with a hook for you to store your veil at home. It has a smooth black nonslip material on the end of the clip which holds your veil by the comb with no rough edges which could snag your veil as on a conventional coat hanger

Do any of the veils come attached to a headpiece?  The veils and tiaras in the "headpieces with veils" section sometimes come attached but quite often are separate pieces because this gives greater freedom over your hairstyle.

How do I remove any wrinkles that may have occurred during shipping?  All of the veils are steamed any pressed by us immediately prior to shipping at our own risk, please do not attempt to iron your one and only veil!  Any creases that have occurred will be very light as the veil will only have been in the box for 24 hours so the wrinkles will fall out naturally in a few days, if you are in a rush a steamy bathroom works wonders.

What is your return policy?  To see our terms of trading and policies in full please click here

I don't want to wear the veil over my face, should I order a single tier veil?  Many brides are choosing not to wear the veil over their face as they take their promenade down the aisle, but this doesn't mean you can't have a two or even a three tiered veil, it's of much greater importance that the veil looks how you want it to when worn at the back as that is how it will be seen for 99.9% of the time.

Are there any other styles available other than the ones shown on the site?  There are an endless number of styles available here at The Wedding Veil Shop, far too many to list, if you are looking for something that you can't see, let us know or fill out a custom order form and we will assist you in creating the veil of your dreams.
